Fridge Repair in Niagara-on-the-Lake

A fridge is the one appliance that can't wait. Tell us what it's doing, warm food, ice buildup, a puddle under the crisper, and we'll get someone out today where the schedule allows.

Quick check

Fridge warm, freezer still cold?

Usually a door seal or blocked airflow between the two.

Ice building up at the back?

Often the defrost cycle, not the compressor.

Water pooling under the drawers?

Usually a clogged drain, a quick fix on most visits.

Fridge problems we fix in Niagara-on-the-Lake

Open a symptom to see what usually causes it and how we track it down. If yours doesn't match, call anyway, most calls are one of these.

Equipment we cover

Top & bottom freezer Side-by-side French door Built-in & counter-depth Compact & undercounter

Common causes

  • Door seal worn or not sitting flush
  • Condenser coils clogged with dust
  • Evaporator fan has stopped turning
  • Compressor start relay failing
  • Thermostat reading the wrong temperature

How we fix it

We pull the fridge out and check the coils first, since a dirty condenser is the most common reason a fridge "stops cooling" without anything actually being broken. From there we test the door seal and the evaporator fan, then check the start relay and thermostat if the airflow checks out. We replace what's actually reading out of spec rather than guessing, and run the fridge until the temperature settles before we call it done.

Common causes

  • Defrost drain blocked with ice or debris
  • Drain pan cracked or sitting off-level
  • Water line to the ice maker loose or split
  • Door not sealing, letting in warm humid air

How we fix it

We trace the water back from where it's pooling, usually along the defrost drain to the pan underneath. Most of the time it's a simple blockage we can clear on the spot. If the water line fittings are the source we reseat or replace them, and if the door gasket has gone soft we swap it so moist air stops getting in and refreezing where it shouldn't.

Common causes

  • Condenser fan blade catching on frost or debris
  • Evaporator fan bearing worn out
  • Start relay clicking without starting the compressor
  • Fridge not level, so it vibrates against the floor or cabinets

How we fix it

We listen for where the sound is coming from and when it happens in the cycle, which usually tells us which fan or relay is involved before we open anything up. Fan blades get cleared or replaced, worn bearings get swapped rather than oiled, and if it's just a levelling issue we adjust the feet and check nothing else is touching the cabinets.

Common causes

  • Defrost heater or timer has failed
  • Door seal letting moist air in continuously
  • Defrost drain tube frozen shut
  • Temperature set colder than it needs to be

How we fix it

We clear the ice by hand first so we can actually see what's underneath, then test whether the defrost cycle is running on schedule. A failed heater or timer gets replaced outright. If the cycle is fine we check the door seal and the drain tube, since a tube that's frozen shut just sends the same moisture back into the cabinet every time.

Brands we service

Parts for these makes travel on the van, which is why most visits end in a finished repair rather than a second appointment.

What neighbours say about our fridge repairs

Real jobs, real fridges, from top-freezers to built-ins, across Niagara-on-the-Lake.

Meredith V.
Fridge was warm but the freezer was fine, which had me stumped. Turned out it was just a blocked vent between the two. Fixed same day and it's been holding temperature since.
Rhiannon E.
French door fridge, ice maker stopped working. Diagnosed and replaced the valve in one visit.
Vikram S.
Had a puddle under the crisper drawer for weeks and just kept mopping it up. Was a clogged defrost drain, fifteen minute fix once he got here.
Sunniva B.
Side-by-side started clicking every few minutes and never actually cooling. Compressor relay had failed. Told me straight what it would cost before starting.
Gareth M.
Called about a built-in fridge running hot behind its cabinet panel. Knew exactly what to check given how little airflow it had.
Solveig T.
Our bar fridge in the garage stopped cooling in the middle of a heat wave. Small unit, small job, but he still came out the same afternoon.
Arjun N.
Bottom freezer drawer wouldn't close properly and food kept thawing. Replaced the glides, works better than it did new.
Anouk D.
Old top-freezer fridge from the nineties, most places would've told us to bin it. He actually knew what part it needed and had one on the van.
Desmond H.
Good diagnosis on a noisy fridge condenser fan, fair price. Knocked a star off only because the first appointment got moved, though he did call ahead about it.
Emeka O.
Fridge was frosting up badly at the back panel. Turned out to be the defrost heater. Explained the whole thing while he worked, which I appreciated.
Bronwyn G.
Booked online at night not expecting a reply until morning. Someone called first thing and fixed the fridge before lunch.
Juniper L.
French door model kept beeping about the temperature. Sensor issue, sorted in one visit with a 90-day warranty on the part.
